The Power Of Giving Back

You know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you get when you give back to your community?  The benefits are even greater when you get your business involved!  Our team at Spring Strategies is involved in several philanthropic events each year.  Most recently, the Liberty Children’s Home has touched us in ways we can’t begin to describe.  Our CEO has traveled to Belize to help 3 times in the past year.

While altruistic acts are carried out without any expectation of personal gain, participating in charitable events can certainly benefit your business. Here are a few ways that giving back to your community can positively impact you, your business and your employees.

  1. Give back to make your community a better place to live. There are a few ways that philanthropy helps to better your community. One way to help out your city is by participating in charities that directly improve the state of your community, such as clean-ups, food drives, fundraising for local schools and hospitals, etc.  Another way to positively impact your community through philanthropy is by inspiring the “pay it forward” effect. There is something about giving back that really brings people together and inspires others to want to perform acts of kindness.
  2. Build a presence in your community. What is a better way to get the “face” of your company known, than by getting out there and interacting with the people and businesses within your community? Not only will you be establishing a presence, but you will be creating a great reputation for your business and building trust with the public.
  3. Bond with your team. Employees have a much higher level of respect for leaders and bosses who have a genuine desire to do good. Taking the time to give back to your community shows your employees that you respect and care for the greater good and that you are a real person, too.  Giving back as a team also inspires motivation, strengthens team bonds and boosts employee morale. A strong, healthy team morale is crucial when it comes to operating a successful business, and opportunities like charity events are perfect for cultivating a strong team spirit.
  4. Any event is an opportunity to network. Participating in charity events provides great opportunities for connecting with other businesses and contacts that can prove to be helpful for you and your business in the future. There are numerous ways in which these doors are opened through charity events, whether it be making connections through the charity organization itself, connecting with other businesses that participate in the same charity, or connecting with other businesses and contacts while out in the community. There is a lot of truth to the old adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”, so the more connections you make, the more potential opportunities you unlock. Forming relationships and connections through philanthropic pathways is especially beneficial, because you are forming a relationship built on mutual respect right out of the gate and already share the commonality of a desire to give back.
  5. It’s a chance to have fun! There are countless ways to give back, and countless charities to choose from. Donating to an organization doesn’t necessarily mean sitting outside at a table with a glass jar, or uncomfortable chasing people down asking for money. Get creative! Host a game night with prizes, or a karaoke night at your favorite local brewery. Ask a local DJ to donate their services and dance the night away at your favorite local venue. The opportunities are endless, all you have to do is set the donation price, create fliers and invite your community to join in on the fun!

While the main goal of giving back is just that…to give back, there are so many other added benefits that it makes it a no-brainer! Not only will you be helping out the organization of your choice, you will be making your community a better place to live, improving your company morale, making your presence known and having fun while you’re at it! It doesn’t get any better than that!
